Could you survive 4 months of complete darkness if you had access to a free puppy livestream around the clock?

Personally, I dread daylight savings time. Moving the clocks back and getting an extra hour of sleep for one night is great, but it's not worth the months of short days. How am I supposed to feel motivated to be a productive person if it starts getting dark at 4 PM? And even still, that's nothing compared to northern countries, like Finland, which experience 4 months of total darkness in winter. Not even an hour of sunlight. Needless to say, that would be an absolute dealbreaker for me.

And yet, even though it's a small country, many people still live there. They've found their ways to adapt, and one of the most creative (and cute) ways they've found to help get them through those cold, dark months, is a 24/7 puppy cam called "Puppy Live" or "Pentulive" in Finnish. The livestream follows a mama dog, who is an emotional support dog for schools, and her six newborn puppies. The viewers get to see everything from their tired yawns to some zoomies, and even adorable parts of their development like taking their measurements, feeding time, and playtime! Cute puppies at any time of the day? Sign me up!

Now, it's not all action all the time. Newborn puppies sleep around 20 hours a day, but as any dog owner knows, you can still find extreme joy simply in watching your doggo sleep peacefully. It may not be as action-packed as a new Marvel movie, but it does provide a whole lot of cuteness, warmth, and pawsitivity to a group of people who wake up and go to bed in darkness for months in a row.

So, going back to my question up at the top: could I survive a completely dark winter if I could watch a livestream of puppies all day, every day? Maybe. Probably not. It might help, but I think it would still be a dealbreaker for me. However, it seems to really be helping those who tune in, seeing as its social channels amassed 20 million views last year.

The good news is that you don't have to be from Finland to tune in. All you have to do is search "Pentulive" and tune in!

A little fun fact about me: for a little more than 2 years, I lived in Lithuania. Before joining the Cheezburger team, I was actually a professional dancer! That's a story for a different article, but I was hired and danced for the National Contemporary Dance Theatre of Lithuania, called AURA. That was the farthest north I've ever lived, and although it wasn't quite far enough north to be completely submerged in darkness during winter, it was dark for most of the day. I think the sun started setting around 3 PM most days, and didn't come up until around 9 AM. This is where I discovered that I need to live in warmer, more tropical climates.

But who knows, maybe if I had had a 24/7 puppy cam available during that time, it would have been way easier to deal with!

Is there anything sweeter than baby puppies? No, seriously, I'm asking because I'm not sure there is. I remember when I first adopted my dog, she was just over 2 months old, and she was the sweetest thing I had ever seen. She had a full soup belly and the tiniest little face I had ever seen. Now that she's a full-grown adult, I wish we could go back to those sweet moments of puppyhood. I certainly don't miss all the biting, though!
